SPD students delivered exceptional presentations at the ”3rd International Symposium on Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development“ held at the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand.

From December 7th to 8th, 2023, six individuals associated with the Social Policy and Development Programme (SPD) showcased their research at the 3rd International Symposium on Disaster Resilience and Sustainable Development, hosted by the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand. The participants included Ms. Thorfan Denchachainimit, focusing on the issue of plastic leakage causing marine pollution in Thailand; Ms. Norakamon Thatphithakkul, presenting her analysis of alien marine species in Thailand; Ms. Vasuthida Pinrattana, addressing the impact of PM2.5 on Thai society and investigating its causes, challenges, and policy gaps in implementations; Mr. Teerabhat Newachuen, presenting a sustainable solution for managing plankton bloom in Thailand; Mr. Chawittipong Tunchunwingsuk, discussing the microplastic crisis and environmental concerns; and Mr. Yuzhou Zhu, sharing insights on sustainable reconstruction and recovery during the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake in Sichuan, China.
The conference provided a platform for these SPD students to actively engage with and contribute to discussions on social policy development and disaster resilience. Their participation underscored SPD‘s noteworthy recognition and commendation for research and teaching in these critical areas.
