SPD Programme Bridges Classroom Learning and Real-World Challenges

“SPD Programme Bridges Classroom Learning and Real-World Challenges”
As part of the SPD 317 course on Conflict Resolution and Negotiation, the Social Policy and Development (SPD) programme took a hands-on approach by organizing a workshop on 20-21 September 2024 in Mae Sot district, Tak province. The goal was to immerse students in real-world conflict analysis, focusing on case studies of the ongoing Myanmar conflicts and their impact on Thailand’s border security. Students had the invaluable opportunity to gain insights from a leading expert in conflict studies, Khun Pongchai Tonarunchai , and engaged directly with activities along the Mae Sot-Myawaddy border. This immersive experience deepened their understanding of the complexities of the Myanmar conflict and its broader implications.
The workshop not only heightened students’ awareness of the issue but also empowered them to see how social policy can play a critical role in addressing such challenges.
