On 24th February 2025 – Students from the Poverty Urban Rual Development (SPD-204) course at Social Policy and Development (International Programme), Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University visited the Lak Si Canal Housing Project under the Community Organizations Development Institute (CODI) to gain firsthand insights into the institute’s efforts in poverty eradication and community development.
The Lak Si Canal Housing Project is a key initiative of CODI, aiming to improve living conditions for low-income communities through participatory housing development. During the visit, students engaged with CODI representatives, community leaders, and residents to understand the mechanisms of affordable housing, community-led development, and financial models supporting urban poor settlements.
The educational trip provided a practical learning experience, complementing classroom knowledge with real-world exposure to social policy implementation. The students explored the impact of CODI’s work in promoting inclusive urban development and sustainable livelihoods.
