Thank you to Dr Mahesh Chougule for his hard work on a significant research project presented on 27th March, for sharing the insightful findings with us and for organising this international event. On 27th March, 2024, this International Seminar was held on Research Findings of “Taiwan’s Evolving Relationship with China and its Implications for Democracy and Human Rights”. This was a cross-sectional study of democracy, human rights and mental health, funded by Taiwan Foundation for Democracy and led on by Dr Mahesh Chougule, Principle Investigator of the Study, and Professor Peishan at our partner university, National Taiwan University. The seminar was jointly organized with the Southeast Asia Center for Public Policy and Good Governance (CPG), Faculty of Law, Thammasat University.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social Administration, Thammasat University, Associate Professor Auschala Chalayonnavin, opened the event at the Mandarin Hotel followed by Ajarn Pred Evans, Assistant Dean for International Affairs and Director of the Social Policy and Development International Programme. This was followed by presentations by Dr Mahesh Chougule, Professor Peishan Yang, Dr Sandeep Jagdale, Walchand College, Solapur University, India, Dr. Adriana Ortega, Monash University, Malaysia, Dr. Duc Quang Ly (CPG) Faculty of Law, Thammasat University and Mr. Morten Strantzen, Research Associate (CPG), Thammasat University.
