On 13 September, 2024, Dr Pred Evans, SPD Director and Assistant Dean for International Affairs, delivered an online lecture to high school students in Shiga Prefecture, Japan, on social enterprises in Thailand and how they feed into the SDG goals. Dr Pred also introduced SPD and mentioned the Japanese students already enrolled on the programme.

Students expressed a lot of interest in social entrepreneurship and one student commented

“I’ve always wanted a job since I was younger that would help the world, my options were very little since I had no idea what kind of jobs and organizations there are out there but thanks to this lesson, I have in mind what I might want to do in the future. I’m looking forward to learning more about social entrepreneurs.”
