Thailand hosts 91,337 Myanmar refugees in nine temporary shelters on the Thai Myanmar border while 4,799 urban refugees and asylum seekers reside in other areas. In Mae Hon Son, around 30,000 refugees are distributed among four camps. My role as a Community-Based Protection Assistant is integral within each Field Office’s Protection Team. My primary responsibility involves conducting a sensitive analysis of community risks and capacities, essential to all UNHCR activities within a specific country context. As part of emergency response teams, I closely monitor news related to the situation in Myanmar, including political developments, as they have significant implications for refugee populations, regional security and host communities.
