There is a quote by Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world”. If I could choose one lesson from four years of studying at SPD, is that education is the foundation of every society. My role as a teacher is not only to teach students based on the syllabus but also as a mentor to guide them through the most challenging part of their adolescent lives into better adults for our future. I believe that education plays one of the most important mechanisms in keeping our society functioning as it should. Other than that, I am currently in the process of starting my own private non-profit organization relating to homelessness and children’s education in my hometown. I believe that giving back to our community is one of the most essential components in making our society much better. I was always interested in the Child Rights course, which was one of the courses that SPD provided. I honestly think that taking that course changed my perspective. In a way, it influenced my decision to go into this field of work. Social Policy and Development is the field you would want to explore if you have the passion to change the world for the better. Nevertheless, SPD is never the wrong choice.
