On May 8, 2024, productive discussions took place between the Social Policy and Development Programme (SPD), led by Ajarn Pred Evans, Director of SPD with Dr Watchara Pechdin, Deputy Director SPD, Dr Mahesh Chougule and Dr Wanwadee Poonpoksin and the Migration Data and Research Unit (MDRU), affiliated with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), led by Dr. Hélène Syed Zwick.
The aim was to explore opportunities for academic collaboration across various dimensions of migration studies, including student internships, co-developing academic courses and training, data sharing, joint research endeavors, and co-organizing international conferences.
Currently, SPD offers migration studies through the SPD 442: Migration in a Global Context course. This collaboration not only enriches our existing curriculum by equipping students with practical skills for analyzing migration patterns but also aims to expedite research collaboration opportunities for professors and researchers in the field of migration studies.
